DESCRIPTION:The lighting of the official Cedar Rapids Christmas tree will take place  during the Fire and Ice Festival presented by the Cedar Rapids Metro  Economic Alliance and the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival on Saturday\,  December 1. Santa Claus will light the tree at 5:30 p.m. in Greene  Square Park. The 29th Annual Holiday DeLight Parade will begin at 6:00  p.m. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served during the Tree Lighting  Ceremony compliments of CenturyLink. Attendees may also warm up before  the Tree Lighting Ceremony and the parade with the Chili Challenge\,  hosted in the Armstrong Centre Food Court from 3:00-7:00 p.m.

This year’s Christmas tree is a 35 foot Blue Spruce donated by Raymond  Jones\, 2503 Wilson Avenue SW.  The Parks & Recreation Department and  Coonrod Wrecker and Crane Service will cut\, transport and set the tree  at Greene Square Park on Monday\, November 26.
