DESCRIPTION:Tales of a Cedar Rapids Firefighter (1920-1955)
The Carl & Mary Koehler History Center
Saturday\, March 16\, 2013 10:30 a.m. at the History Center
Free for History Center Members / $5 for non-members

Join the History Center’s Jim White as he tells the story of his father\, James Barton White\, a firefighter for the City of Cedar Rapids for 35 years. Upon transcribing his father’s letters\, Jim found a wealth of his father’s subtle humor about the life in the station houses as equipment and procedures changed over the years. J.B.(as he was called) worked about every job in the field. He started out as a ladderman\, drove all sizes of trucks\, drove the chief\, and in his last years served as radio dispatcher.

This presentation will delight those who are fascinated by firefighting and the history of Cedar Rapids.

Call (319)362-1501 ext. 11 or email office@historycenter.com for reservations.

Admission is free for History Center Members and $5 for non-members.
