On the sixth day of March, 2013, people in countries across the world will unite for one purpose: to celebrate World Read Aloud Day. This global literacy movement is designed to celebrate reading, advocate for the literacy rights of all individuals, and create a community of readers with an emphasis on children.
The Cedar Rapids Public Library will celebrate this special day by reading aloud from 9 am to 9 pm. Volunteers, staff and community members will read for 30-minutes each throughout the day.
The public is invited and encouraged to visit the Ladd Library throughout the day on March 6 and take part in this special event. Grab a seat and listen to a story and be part of a global movement.
