The 36th Annual Houby Days is May 17-19, 2013 in Czech Village. The Czech Village Association’s annual spring festival celebrates the history and culture of Czech Village in Cedar Rapids. Houby (pronounced HOE-bee) is Czech for mushrooms.

The event kicks off on Friday evening, May 17, with vendors, carnival and live music by the Czech Plus Band and headliner, Bob Dorr Band.

Saturday and Sunday morning will begin with a pancake breakfast by the Cedar Rapids Lady Roughriders. Throughout the day, enjoy Czech music, song and traditional folk dance as you wind your way through the Village shops and vendors. The carnival and Saturday’s car show will be sure to appeal to all ages. Brass Transit Authority headlines the Kosek Bandstand on Saturday evening.

Sunday is Kids Day featuring children’s games, cabbage roll races, the Hawkeye Pedal Pull, puppet theater and children’s parade.

Commemorative buttons are on sale now at Czech Village area businesses. Purchase one today for the chance to win cash or prizes and to support the Houby Days festival!
