The Cedar Valley Humane Society will hold an Emergency Care and Safety Institute course in pet first aid on Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Pawsitive Paws Academy, 137 30th St. Dr. SE in Cedar Rapids. The class will also cover disaster preparedness. The cost is $40, which includes a reference book and ECSI Pet First Aid Certification valid for three years. Students are asked to bring their own lunch and leave their pets at home.
"Part of our mission is to provide pet-related educational opportunities in our communities," says Chuck Tourtillott, executive director of the Cedar Valley Humane Society. "We recommend that pet owners take this class so they know how to provide immediate care if their pets become sick or injured."
Class is limited to 15 participants, and advance registration is required. Register at www.cvhumane.org or call (319) 362-6288.
