COMMUNITY EVENTS

Minimize

This year families are expected to spend close to $100 on school supplies per child, not including all the new clothes and technology.  Unfortunately there are many families in Cedar Rapids that struggle to provide the simple necessities for heading back to school.  In 1997 the Henry Davis Youth Center started a campaign called Back Pack for Kids Campaign.  This year they have decided to make the event a collaboration between the Salvation Army, NW Neighbors Neighborhood Association, Tanager Place, Freedom Festival, Sam’s Club, Walmart, and HACAP to help eliminate the problem and hope to distribute 2,000 back packs filled with school supplies to families in need.

How you can help: Monetary donations can be sent to Dupaco Community Credit Union at either 110 35th St Dr SE  Cedar Rapids, IA 52403 or 3131 Williams Blvd SW Cedar Rapids, IA 52405.  Please make checks out to “CR Packs for Kids”.
