Summer and celebration go hand in hand with the Freedom Festival — do you have your button yet?

The official countdown to 4th of July festivities is underway with TONS of specialty events and family-friendly activities around the corridor!

Celebrate with Z102.9 at these Freedom Festival Events:
 
  o    The Freedom Festival Parade on Saturday, June 26th – The parade steps off at 10 AM in downtown Cedar Rapids — look for Z102.9 and our brother stations KGYM and Smart FM!
  o    Jump For Freedom – Dueling Dogs runs Thursday, June 23rd through Sunday, June 27th – Held on the lawn of the National Czech and Slovak Museum enjoy MULTIPLE days of Dock Dogs and Dueling Dogs (a series of competitive dog jumping events held around the world each year). Dock Dogs and Dueling Dogs consists of three main aquatic events: big air, extreme vertical, and speed retrieval. Find the complete schedule at freedomfestival.com.
  o    Movie Night ft. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off/Silent Disco on Thursday, July 1st – Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day off with an outdoor movie and silent disco at NewBo City Market! Doors open 6 PM and movie starts at dusk. While you wait for the movie to start grab a pair of headphones and listen to Lady J mix the beats at the Silent Disco. FREE w/ Button (kids 8 and under do not need a button)
  o    Celebration of Freedom Fireworks on Sunday, July 4th – The 2nd Avenue Bridge will open for entry beginning at 7 PM where you can relax and listen to Z102.9. Food and drink vendors will be on-site. The first 500 kids will receive a bag with a kids activity book courtesy of Z102.9 and The Gazette. FREE w/ Button (kids 8 and under do not need a button)
 

SUMMER BLOCK PARTY @ LINDALE MALL W/ THE MORNING SCRAMBLE

It’s officially summer! Celebrate with Lindale Mall this Saturday during the Summer Block Party w/ Z102.9!

Join Z102.9’s The Morning Scramble this Saturday at Lindale Mall from 11 AM – 2 PM for family fun, food, entertainment and lots of familiar faces from Lindale Mall partners!

Enjoy tons of kid’s activities including face painting, carnival rides, t-shirt tie-dying, and a rock climbing wall!

BOURBON & BLUES FEST @ CEDAR RIDGE

Cedar Ridge is back with their 12th Annual Bourbon & Blues Festival on Friday, July 2nd – 5th — celebrating the anniversary of Iowa’s first bourbon since Prohibition!

Bring your lawn chains and blankets to enjoy the delicious bourbon and BBQ treats featured at Cedar Ridge with live music on the patio each day!

In addition to the free music all day at Cedar Ridge, this year Bourbon and Blues is expanding to include two, ticketed shows at DanceMor Ballroom in downtown Swisher.

Dubbed, “Barn Jams After Dark” will feature Kris Lager Band on Friday, July 2nd, and Mike Zito with Special Guest Kevin BF Burt on Saturday, July 3rd and we’ve got tickets!

A new name, look and format has been announced for the BBQ Roundup – now called The Roundup.

Dubbed the “tastiest music festival in Cedar Rapids,” The Roundup will feature well-known headliners from the 70’s and 80’s in addition to the traditional BBQ available for purchase.

The three-day festival takes place at the McGrath Amphitheatre TOMORROW Saturday, June 26th.  

Make sure to get your tickets for this Saturday night to enjoy some delicious BBQ and jam out to the Surf Zombies, Naked Eyes and A Flock of Seagulls!
