The Position

This is an outside sales position where the primary focus is on new business development.  Your clients will be local and regional businesses within the greater Cedar Rapids and Iowa City markets. In this position you’ll be representing a comprehensive line of marketing services. You will be creating solutions and making recommendations to local businesses on how to build awareness about their products and services utilizing a multimedia approach.

Our distribution channels include.

  • Radio stations: Z102.9, 1600ESPN, X107.5 and SMART FM
  • Event marketing:
  • CI Digital Group: Which offers full digital services. We offer services like SEO, geo-fencing, local listing optimization, Facebook, Instagram ads, YouTube video ads, website development and optimization, etc.

You will be working from our office in Cedar Rapids, IA

Responsibilities:

  • Do the right thing.
  • Hit your revenue targets.
  • Sell our entire product offerings.
  • New business development by cold calling, obtaining referrals, networking, cross-selling and upselling existing clients, and being involved in professional business service organizations. E.g. Rotary club, Chamber of Commerce, etc.
  • Set appointments with decision makers.
  • Meet with clients on-site and virtually.
  • Uncover revenue opportunities.
  • Qualify clients for their interest level, budget, and timeframe.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations.
  • Close opportunities.
  • Understand and effectively communicate our capabilities and what business problems they solve.
  • Maintain constant contact with qualified clients.
  • Actively participate in company and vendor trainings both in person and online.
  • Maintain timely and accurate client information in the company’s CRM system.
  • Utilize Outlook calendar for tracking appointments and blocking out sales activities.
  • Set professional and personal skill development objectives.

Do you Have the Experience?

  • Minimum of three years in outside sales experience selling business to business.
  • Proven track record in new business development.
  • Sales position where you managed a list of accounts.
  • Have been directly responsible for finding your own opportunities.
  • Have been directly responsible for closing your own deals.
  • Have sold advertising, digital media, or marketing plans preferred but not required.
  • Have sold to small to medium size business owners.
  • Experience in selling digital products a plus, but not required.

Do You have The Qualifications?

  • Dependable transportation.
  • Good driving record.
  • Valid Iowa driver’s license.
  • Proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Live within the greater Cedar Rapids/Iowa City metro area.
  • Own and operate a mobile smart phone
  • Have a presence on social media: LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have utilized CRM to track and stay on top of your opportunities.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to multi-task and change priorities.
  • Proficient knowledge of general PC software applications. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficient in conducting meetings online via Zoom, Teams, etc.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • A background check will be done before hire.
