February 22 – How Would You Spend $19 Million Dollars?

Guest:  Hilary Hershner, Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization

The Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) comprises elected officials and appointed representatives of Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Ely, Fairfax, and Palo. The MPO is tasked with reviewing and approving transportation investments in the Cedar Rapids metropolitan area.

Presently, the MPO has about $19 million dollars to give out to road, trail, and transit projects in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is a short-term plan that programs transportation funds in the next 5 years.

In total, the MPO is reviewing eight road projects, four trail projects, and two transit projects seeking TIP funding and needs public input.

Plan on attending one of four, in-person public outreach events:
>> Tuesday, Feb. 24: Cedar Rapids Ladd Library, 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
>> Wednesday, Feb. 25: Marion Library – 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM or Hiawatha Library – 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM
>> Thursday, Feb. 26: Iowa Hall at Kirkwood Community College – 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Also, an online survey will be available February 23.
